But its story time yall
A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.
The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.
The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with an unanimous "yes."
The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.
"Now," said the professor as the laughter subsided, "I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life.
The golf balls are the important things--your family, your children, your health, your friends and your favorite passions--and if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full.
The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house and your car.
The sand is everything else---the small stuff. If you put the sand into the jar first," he continued, "there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls.
The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff you will never have room for the things that are important to you.
Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your spouse out to dinner. Play another 18. There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal. Take care of the golf balls first--the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand."
One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented. The professor smiled. "I'm glad you asked. It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem, there's always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend."

Extra Credit

Nas said "no idea's original there's nothing new under the sun, it's never what you do but it's how it's done"...
Good quote, but in hindsight.. it's wrong.
These picture I post up definitely isn't my creation (wish they were). I would love to promote these artists no matter if they make music or art, but sometimes it's not that easy to find out who to give credit to. I made a post Hip Hop is ... endangered? a little while ago and the originator of the art actually commented on the exact post.
Kendra, the artist, most definitely deserves all the credit for that picture. Check out her blogs and her other pieces. Honestly, it blew my socks off when I saw it at first.
Thanks for letting me use it.

Bright Lights

Had a great dance performance Friday/Saturday, I think every one should do a group performance piece of any sort. You make great friendships and the exhilaration of being on stage, having people cheer for you is amazing. The frightening excitement which sparks a fire from your toes to your head can not be felt any other way.
No wonder artists do what they do.

Is Anything I do Brand New??

Reinventing the game, especially your self, is difficulty at its peak.
Flowin with the theme that I am just starting up my blog again... I'll post some up and coming artists that have crazy sick tracks these days. I mean the production is legit and vocals/raps/lyrics are on point.
Kid Cudi is probably tied with Drake for the highest chance of making it big. I mean Drake sings and raps pretty effortlessly, I even may like his singing over his rapping, but you be the judge. Best I've Ever Had is probably my favorite rap song he has, and houstalantavegas is one of my favorite rnb tracks he sings. I always think its Trey on the hook but whatever (listen to the patented yeeuuuppp).
Kid Cudi is sort of like Drake in that he sings and raps, but his raps > singing. He does that lazy can't really sing but sings like he can style word to Kanye. It's still legit though
Charles Hamilton gets laced with sick beats and mixes i swear. These two tracks are some twists and remixes of tracks on 808s and heartbreaks. I think these beats might be better than the orignial, but maybe that's because i heard the original too much.
New is good.
Sky Might Fall - Kid Cudi
Man on the Moon - Kid Cudi
Best I've Ever Had - Drake
Houstolantavegas - Drake
Stay up! feat Kanye West - 88-keys

Hip Hop is ... endangered?

ehh I'm over the whole "hip hop is dead" era. that came and went by. Well I mean radio still bumps the same terrible songs but still.. people should get over it... atleast get over here and listen to music here haha.
I posted Kanye's newest single "Love Lockdown". Quite different but I think like it. I mean its not rap, I don't know if it is really RnB but it just seems to stick in my head. Just something about those notes he sings (or creates) thats pleasing.
I mean thats what music is all about right?

New John Legend!
John Legend is probably one of the only few singers who has enjoyable tracks across a wide age range. Who else but John? Maybe Stevie or Alicia Keys. But seriously, this man has two legit classic rnb cd's.
I actually saw him live for free back at home in Hawaii because he was putting on a concert for the soldiers. There was a large gated section for current soldiers and families. What's great was that everyone was vibin', and seriously everybody and their moms and kids and family were vibin'.
Imagine that.

I'm 19 years deep in life, finally somewhat a spec of light in sight. Fortunately the only problem that I have, is that there are too many. Hopes and dreams sound so bubbly, positive, and great characteristics for people, but what happens when there are so many you just don't know what to do?

Shy City

Been just thinkin' about the whole East/West coast battle back when 2pac and Biggie were still alive. Back then it was basically just NY vs LA, how times have changed.
Now days things seem more... luxurious and joyous. Things back then seemed so rugged, thug, and just gang related. Now days its all about making money, throwing it around, bling bling (sort of old), and partying.
Anyway, these days I think Chicago got the game on lock.

Dots.

There are so many things in life, seriously.
So many intricate details and events that you don't even notice or consider. Things that don't affect your life, things that don't flick your mind. Theres a bajillion of them. It's crazy to look back on something, look back at the way things turned out and trace it to the point you are right now. What if you change a minute detail, change a decision you once thought was wrong. Would you be satisfied with where you are now?
Unlike this complete painting filled with scratches, smears, dots, scribbles, and ticks, I don't think you can ever see the big picture of your life. Like tech said, "The future begins by leaving the past"
With that being said, why bother with regret?

Music...
*This picture is created by Naseko "A touch of Love". This piece is serious, and if the artist wants to put up links to more pieces i would love to put it up and support the artwork. Unimaginably creative and beautiful.
I think the type of music a person listens to, and how often a person listen to music dictates a person's personality to a certain extent. It may easily be that a persons personality dictates the type of music they listen to, but still the personality plays parallel to their music choice.
on that note, tracks.
Is This Love - Bob Marley
I Finally Know - Boyz II Men
Tie My Hands ft. Robin Thicke - Lil' Wayne

Weezy F. Baby

Not the biggest fan of Wayne, but I listen to some of his tracks. Lots of his freestyles and songs are good, but a ton are also bad... He just records so many tracks that a lot of songs are also terrible. I think his older songs are a lot better and filled with better substance than his new. Wayne had a phase where he basically did reggae and rapped with a reggae style which was terrible.
He tends to use this formula for similes and metaphors " ____ like ____ " every single time. I guess its not entirely bad, but he could still incorporate different styles.
I just peeped The Carter III, and on the first loop, it's not that bad. Surprisingly Lollipop is the only "radio" type track, maybe a couple of others. I'll just drop a couple of favorite tracks from the carter series.
I feel like Lil Wayne is a little like snoop dogg. Snoop used to rap so hard, and now all he does is talk/sing in his songs. It's sad.

C.R.E.A.M.

Money makes the world go round no doubt, what about hip hop?
It definitely circulates pop corn rappers and one hit wonders on radio stations. Can rappers have lasting power or power to last on the radio without resorting to the flaunting of money, cars, or women? I don't think so.
Rap in the mainstream is basically solely made for clubs, cars, and parties. If it's about something positive, social change, love, it's pop or Rnb. It's not a good look for hip hop when it's being represented by the radio, but the people who bump tracks in the club, cars, and parties don't care.
Actually, why should I care if people think hip hop is all about money, cars and hos?
I choose what I want to listen, and so do you.

A Bay Bay Area

Much appreciation for the love from NorCal. Definitely a sick city foreal.
It's obvious that I'm flying high no weed all love... but I gotta input some hip hop just to even things out. I can't get enough of RnB but i can't be in slow jams mode while everyone else is getting hyphy. I wish I had more Bay Area music... but I'll throw some low-key artists and tracks for today.

Happy Mothers Day.
I remember my moms used to pack me on the back seat of those bicycles with the basket in the front. Took me from my Japanese kindergarten all the way to the kindergarten on base. I was a terrible kid, I feel remorse looking back.

Keep Your Head Up

It's finals week.
It sucks but you know its going to make you feel so much better after that last final. All the hours put into studying, no matter if you think you bombed it or killed it, you're gonna love the freedom of summer. If it weren't for the finals and the tough hours you put in, you wouldn't experience the pleasure that comes after. Yeah it probably does average out to the same happiness/pleasure if you didn't have to study, but unfortunately, you have to.

So don't hate on me saying I sold out or anything. I only hate on the tracks that dont deserve to be on the radio but are. I still like these kinds of tracks that could get radio play.

Back Home...

I never been home sick these two years I've been away from home. Maybe I'm sort of feeling it a little bit for once, knowing that I am going to stay in L.A. for the summer. I guess if you don't break out of your comfort zone, you'll never grow nor will you miss what you had.
No that picture is not where I live, but I went there a couple of summers ago, and it was siiickk. Basically you need to motor boat about 5 minutes to get there, and the water is about shoulder high around the house. Just me and a bunch of my friends making a trip to another island... that was great.
I'm posting some "hawaiian" tracks that defy your stereotypical luau music. That track "Sharin' the Night" in my last post was from a local guy but I bet no one could've never guessed.
Hawaiian music is all about love... it's great.
Never Gonna Give You Up - Jack Johnson
Girl I Wanna Lay You Down - Jack Johnson

"Aww"

I been workin' like crazy these days...
I felt like I needed some kind of break from philosophy, economics, blah blah. I need a music or art class. Can't wait till next year.
Ahh what a pleasing picture huh? Thought this picture of the cute little curious baby represented music now days pretty well. Technology is making music accessible to anybody, while that could be a positive, such as people like you and I being able to easily listen to great music, I could argue for the negative consequences.
Kids can listen to Soldier boy and "super soak them ho's", middle school boys can "make it rain", and middle school girls can can get low in their boots with the furs. It's so easy to download music with ads popping up every other click, "FREE DOWNLOAD". Kind of sad how easy it is to obtain songs that you could hear on the radio every 15 minutes, but nearly impossible to find songs with substance..
Forget what I just said, and go back to the picture.
That baby is too cute lol.
Tracks For ya Baby
Open Your Eyes - Dwele

Upset

I love the underdogs. Those teams, individuals, artists, who are over looked and underrated. I come to a somewhat sad realization that it's basically the framework of my life. How I dress, talk, think, and appreciate are pretty much dictated by the object's popularity? I couldn't find the word but I think you get it.
I love art (graffiti/art/music) just so I can defend it. Graffiti in particular, gets looked down upon, but the haters don't realize that the art form is just as hard, if not harder than the traditional I-look-rich-and-sophisticated-with-this-on-my-wall art. Shading, filling, spraying a can of color onto a canvas as large as a wall is truly a gift.
I figured it out.. maybe I just want everyone who deserves recognition, to get recognition.
Today's underrated/overlooked picks.
You Remind Me - Mickey Factz <--- on repeat like rinse and lather Up High - Mickey Factz

Happiness?
I Love You Remix feat. Smith and Wessun - Mary J. Blidge
Second, I'm not gonna lie i tried to get people to come to my blog so I uploaded Love in the Club pt. 2, it's a slower version with Beyonce and Lil' Wayne. The first one was more like sex in the club, this ones like making love again after we go home and turn on slow jams. Not a bad official pt. 2. I think i like the original better.
See for yourself
Love in This Club pt. 2 feat. Beyonce and Lil' Wayne - Usher
After thats out of the way, here's where my official post begins...
The end of my sophomore year is coming to an end so quickly. It felt like just the other day my boy went to the hospital on my birthday, seems like just the other day the NBA season began... It's one of those occasions where you're filled with ambivalent emotions; you're happy it's summer, but at the same time you know you're going to miss your friends.
So my friend who works in telefund (shout out to T-weezy, someone drive with him to Seattle) called an alumni who was around 60 to ask for donations to the school. Instead of dropping cash, he instead dropped knowledge. You know its respectable coming from a 60 year old, reflecting on his life at his point in time.
He said, "have the most fun you can in college, your studies are important no doubt, but the most enjoyment in life your going to have is the four years in college..." "as I look back in life, one thing I regret was not having more fun in college..."
Moral of the story:
Enjoy yourself so there are no regrets.

"Rawwwrrr"
If you got the confidence in your self, you can do whatever you want, attain whatever you like. The problem is... it isn't that easy.
How many times were you in a predicament where you know what you want/have to do, but you just don't do it? It's weird.. why do we care so much what the outcome is. Do we rationalize too much, try to foresee all possible outcomes?
It's easy to blame the high self-consciousness and insecurities we have on the media, our culture, America, Bush, etc. whatever. Nobody wants to admit it, but it's ultimately, whether you like it or not, our own faults.
So I guess to have the "heart of a lion"... you got to be the king of yourself.

Strummin My Pain With Her Fingers...

First and foremost, thanks for the love people, it lets me know that people actually enjoy this blog..
Today I decided to go with the acoustic/guitar backed compilation of songs today. It's a saturday morning, can't be ready to listen to high energy music yet nah mean? I don't know what time it is for those folks in France though.
Going off a little of yesterday's mix and matching of styles, guitar + Rnb or rap is another ear pleasing combination. I couldn't really think of many guitar backed rap tracks but here's a couple. I know weezy plays the guitar in that "Lollipop" video, but I refuse to put that on up... even though its hella catchy lol.
Turns out this post is leaning more towards Rnb again... I'll do a rap post next for those more into rap for sure.
Come See Me - 112 (heard this in middle school, never got sick of it)
Can I Kick It? - A Tribe Called Quest
Lesson Learned feat. John Mayer - Alicia Keys
Different - Trey Songz & Brandon Hines
Stingy - Ginuwine <--- recommended
What a Job feat. Snoop and Andre 3000 - Devin the Dude
So Sick (acoustic) - Passion <--- cover of Ne-yo track
Beautiful Struggle - Talib Kweli
turned out to be more than I expected..
enjoy

Best of Both Worlds

Opposites attract right?
Hell ya they do..
Rappers showcase their lyricist skills, Singers showcase their voice.
It's basically the best of both worlds.
The creative metaphors and slick delivery of rappers accompanied by the smooth vocaled chorus combines for a well-rounded track; Its not too girly for guys, and not too guyish for girls. Come to think of it, isn't that what post-Aquemini Outkast is? Andre doing the singing and Big Boi doing the rapping. Anyway.. There was once a time back in the day when these types of tracks would get love from the radio remember Fabolous? He basically based his entire career on rapping love songs with Ashanti, Tamia, Lil' Mo. Its pretty hard to escape the topic of "love" or infatuation in these duet type songs, but who's complaining.
I sure aint.
btw. I think i posted tracks along these lines before (Beautiful, You Got Me, You Never Know) so check those out too.
You Girl feat. Jay-z - Trey Songz
Slow Jamz feat. Jamie Foxx & Twista - Kanye West
911 feat. Mary J. Blidge - Wyclef Jean
Overdose remix feat. Rachel Robinson - Brandon Hines (not rap but so good i had to include)
Lovin' You Tonight feat. R. Kelly - Notorious B.I.G.
One More Chance feat. Faith Evans - Notorious B.I.G
And the classic...
I'll Be Missing You feat. Faith Evans - Puff Daddy
I love you remix feat. smith and wesson - Mary J. Blidge
You're All i Need - Method Man & Mary J. Blidge.
If you have these two... please and send it to me. ASAP!
thanks

Timeless

Sorry about the lack of posting these past couple days, I've been pretty busy with school work and such... Anyway, I was at the library last night, listening to pandora (a website that randomly plays songs relative to a song/artist of your choice) and Ginuwine's "Differences" came up. I haven't heard it for a couple months, but I have been listening to that song since middle school. What's amazing is how ahead of its time that beat + lyrics was. That song came up because its melodic tone and such were identical to Trey Songz' "Can't Help But Wait", which is fairly recent.
That made me think of all the songs that were ahead of its time; tracks that you would never get sick of. So here they are, RnB tracks that you heard awhile back, but never got sick of...
Differences - Ginuwine
U Got it Bad - Usher
Cupid - 112
Umi Says - Mos Def
Down on Bended Knees - Boyz II Men
Turn Your Lights Down Low feat. Bob Marley - Lauryn Hill
Can't Take My Eyes Off of You - Lauryn Hill
Let's Stay Together - Al Green
enjoy.

They Reminisce...
...There is no elitism or hype, it exhibits on the best walls a town has to offer and nobody is put off by the price of admission...This guy speaks the truth, but he fails to address the political gang warfare type graffiti. It's true that "vandals" like Banksy love to stencil because of the need to express ideas through art, but often times graffiti is mere gang-related territorial tags. There's graffiti all over L.A., some extremely creative and expressive with the likes of Haze, Mr. Cartoon, etc., but others are mere scribbles or lines for territorial purposes. What does Banksy have to say about that? beats me, but I feel like the complications of good and bad, right and wrong, have similarities with hip-hop.
...Some people become cops because they want to make the world a better place. Some people become vandals because they want to make the world a better looking place...
-Banksy
People look down on hip-hop, "oh it's degrading to women", "all they talk about is money, cars, and hoes", yeah that's what you hear on the radio, fed to you by the powers that be. If you look deeper into the culture, you will find artists similar to Banksy in the art world. Artists like Immortal Technique, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Common, etc., who are considered artists under hip-hop, yet do not exemplify the stereotypical negative image of hip-hop.
Listen to the good artists, look at the beautiful canvases, and be enlightened.
The people who truly deface our neighbourhoods are the companies that scrawl giant slogans across buildings and buses trying to make us feel inadequate unless we buy their stuff. They expect to be able to shout their messege in your face from every available surface but you're never allowed to answer back. Well, they started the fight and the wall is the weapon of choice to hit them back...
I Used to Love H.E.R. - Common
I met this girl, when I was ten years old
And what I loved most she had so much soul
She was old school, when I was just a shorty
Never knew throughout my life she would be there for me...
...I see niggaz slammin her, and takin her to the sewer
But ima take her back hopin that the shit stop
Cause who Im talkin bout yall is hip-hop...
Leaving the Past - Immortal Technique
They told me I would never make it, I would never achieve itI could basically highlight the entire song, it is THAT lyrically amazing.
Reality is nurishment, but people don't believe it
I guess its hard to stomach the truth like a bulimick
its a dirty game and nobody is willing to clean it
But this is for the paralygics, people dreamin' of runnin'
ladies married to men who dont please 'em, dreamin' of comin'
urbanly murderous like David Berkowitz when I'm gunnin'
Some cowards on the internet didn't think I would sell
scared to talk shit in person, cuz they stuck in a shell
and couldn't understand the pain of being stuck in a cell
Hell is not a place you go, if you not a christian
it's the failure of your lifes greatest ambition
It's a bad decision to blindly follow any religion
Dead Presidents II - Jay-z
We don't just shine, we illuminate the whole show; you feel me?
Factions from the other side would love to kill me
Spill three quarts of my blood into the street, let alone the heat
Fuck em, we hate a nigga lovin this life
In all possible ways, know the Feds is buggin my life
Hospital days, reflectin when my man laid up
On the Uptown high block he got his side sprayed up
I saw his life slippin, this is a minor set back
Yo, still in all we livin, just dream about the get back
That made him smile though his eyes said, "Pray for me"
I'll do you one better and slay these niggaz faithfully
Murder is a tough thing to digest, it's a slow process
and I ain't got nothin but time
Razorblade Salvation - Jedi Mind Tricks
Mommy I'm sorry if my first letter made you cryBeautiful remix feat Mary J. Blige - Mos Def & Talib Kweli
To be honest with you I don't think that I wanna die
Sometimes I feel like that I'm cancerous in others lives
Thats probably why I drink at night and sleep till 4 or 5
It's kinda hard walking through life with my distorted eyes
When I was younger I was stupid and I thought I thrived
I thought alot about everything I said in the letter
And questioned whether or not if I was dead you'd be better
Mos
I dreamt that I could paint you with wordsTalib
But there were no colors bright enough
Black or white enough
Blue or green enough, it didn't mean enough
You are the star that touched the earth
Shine bright for all eyes to see
Radiate and touched me
Now I'm shining like you do
It was dim before I knew you
Bright light for weeping eyes to get used to
You and me, beautifully, thick like pieces of the man I used to be
Now I'm back cause of what you do to me
You like my reflection, better half to my whole
Like lyrics to the beat, you the matre for my soul
The breath for my life, my sister and my lover
Used to have cold feet, now you the one under my covers
I ignore your aura but it grabbed me by the hand
Like the moon pulled the tide and the tide pulled the sand
Love it, or leave it alone.

Lupe The Killaaa

Yes, I know if you are from Occidental College, you probably don't like Lupe for what he did. Yes, I know he only played 3.5 songs when he was supposed to play 5. Even after Lupe's fiasco, it is undeniable that he is an amazing entertainer. You can't deny the lyrical skill that he possesses, no matter if he only showed 3.5 worth of lyrics. I bet most people think Lupe only has two CD's, but he has 3 lyrically dense mix-tapes before. I know its hard to love Lupe for ditching out early, without an encore, but you gotta respect the music that he produces. In attempt to win back Oxy's heart, on behalf of Lupe, here are the top five Lupe Fiasco track you probably never heard.
Top 5 Lupe Tracks You Probably Never Heard
1. Real Recognize Real
they say the streets is a demon in a dress
Wit dollar signs in her eyes and semen on her breath (UH!)
Scantly clad, no panties, deep throating in an alley
Aging badly in sunglasses she pretty
Slain boyfriend names is tattooed on her titties
Sprinkling greed ignorance and envy inside of a Philly
Hennessey tears, ass'll bring ya enemy's here
Flirt wit her flaws till you run up in her raw
2. Lupe The Killer
Until that same soil bein pushed into my grave
But I'm so ahead of my time, the next day
Might strike oil while I delay, homie I'm so crude
Texas T, haters is so screwed
But I can't fill it like a flathead in a Philips
Don't get it twisted, nigga I'm no tool
More cool than a pool in a blizzard
3. Game Time
I'm Just Trying To Do The Opposite Of Left,
As Long As There Is The Opposite Of Death
You Test, And I Might Just Bring The Opposite Of Life
Till There's No One The Opposite Of Right.
As You Bop Down The Writer's Block And Can't Find It...
I Correct,
You A Dress,
I A Pair-A-Pants
I A Motarola, You A Just A Pair-A-Cans!
Couple Coke-A-Colas And A String,
Playa Im Bout My Green Like Marsha's Skin
4. Mean and Vicious
Im just running with a barrel full of black powder
Wita hole in it hole in it wheezin deep, breathin
Running from the fire on the trail i keep leavin
I cant shake it i swear its heat seekin
I keep seekin somewhere to hide from it i can die from it
But it keep keepin up just when i think that ive done it
It keep sneakin up
Ohh leakin barrel of black powder how that flame keep reachin us
Just one of the long rended extended metaphors alose
This time I use an example of a fuse
to demonstrate how i cant lose
I would put it down but i cant due to the glue
that i use the fuse everything together
well i spill some on my hands
and God Damn i might have to carry this forever
5. Much More
Yeah, uh, and you know I fight the feelingenjoy.
Box so I can shop, sometime it doesn’t register
So I return to the ring, like Return of the King
With the habit of a hobbit it makes it hard to drop it
I’m a klepto stealing
And it gets the best
Just when I guess that I left those leanings
I be back on post in a trench coat scheming

"Day Dreamin"
Day Dreamin - Anthony Hamilton
Hearing Anthony Hamilton makes me feel better about my self. His voice makes me feel like I don't know what pain is; makes me feel like I shouldn't complain. "Day Dreamin" is more of a feel-good song, but if you check tracks like "Charlene", "I'm a Mess", and "Lucille", it's the complete opposite.
His voice is undeniably very soulful, it's probably one of, if not most heartfelt voice within the past year or two. The relevancy of his presence in an age of ringtone Rnb seems crucial, I could listen to this guy all day.
Enjoy.
Lucille - Anthony Hamilton
Charlene - Anthony Hamilton
I'm a Mess - Anthony Hamilton

Seems like it's a reoccurring theme on the weekends for me to sleep really late and wake up really early. I don't get it..
This morning I woke up and opened up the blinds, hoping to catch the L.A. rays. Unfortunately, for me, the sun decides to hide behind the clouds for the second morning in a row.
I read about some effect called the Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). Apparently it happens when you go through long withdrawals of sunlight. It usually happens during the winter, and when it happens during the summer, It's called Reverse SAD. Sounds dumb.
Tracks to get you outta' that funk
If She Wants Me - Belle & Sebastian not hip-hop but it brings joy like no other.
Flypaper - K-os (Amazing track.. most highly recommended!)
Beautiful Morning - Little Brother
Magic Number - De La Soul

Couldn't really pay attention in class on Friday, wrote some random shit up, maybe I was hyped for the weekend. This is why I can't get A's in class.

Throwback Thursdays
It's thursday, one day before friday cheaaa. Don't you just love listening to songs that you used to like long time ago, but you eventually faded the song out because you heard other songs too? Or maybe you ended up not liking the song because it was overplayed on the radio. Whatever it may be, listen to those old songs you used to love, and love it again.
Back in the day you know every single word to the songs, you sing with your friends in the car and you sing while you shower. These tracks are not only timeless, but also tracks

When The Beat Drops..
I have to admit... I might be a bigger fan of Rnb than rap. I love em both but I can't go a day without listening to Rnb. I decided this site was going through Rnb withdrawals so I gotta inject it with top-notch Rnb.
I doubt a lot of you guys heard these tracks, but they are all in the same general area of Rnb. They have strong drop beats, and they are all up-tempo. They're still Rnb tracks as they are sung, not rapped, but I suppose it's more pop Rnb rather than the classical Rnb. Without further ado, listen to them your self. These are on my top 25 most played in my iTunes.
Let's Stay Home Tonight - Joe
Beautiful U R - Javier
Real Love - Musiq Soulchild
Half Crazy - Musiq Soulchild

"Final Four"
Tonight is the game before the final championship game on saturday. No its not the NCAA final four but its the Occidental intramural final four. Yeah I know, it's not that big of a deal to almost the entire world, but to the four teams playing, its exciting.
It's something that you and your friends are involved with, one occasion that in the future, you could look back and reminisce. Maybe about the win, maybe about the game, but mainly you reminisce about the close friends you were with.
Tracks to get you pumped. + 1 when you win
On the way there/warm up
Til I Collapse - Eminem
Lu Myself - Lupe Fiasco (freestyle over Lose Yourself) - eminem
More uplifting, positive pumping up songs
Ghost is Back - Ghostface Killah
Scenario - A Tribe Called Quest
No Escapin' This - The Beatnuts
Old School feat. Talib Kweli - MF Doom
The W
Poppin' Them Bottles - Lil Wayne
Seems like not as much downloads are for rap... so I think I'll be posting a majority of RnB, but still some rap too.

"You Never Know"
You Never Know feat. Jean Grae- Immortal Technique
She had a style, all her own, respectful and pure
I was sick in the head for her, and there wasn't a cure
My favorite song of all time.. The melancholy beat backed with light bass bumps, supported with an undertone of electric guitar picking foreshadows pessimism for a gloomy tale. The BPM is at its perfect speed for the listener to fully comprehend the lyrics while being able to imagine the story. The gentle, somewhat soothing voice of Jean Grae give a respite for recap and comprehension.
The incredible story telling ability of Immortal Technique, mixed with his cunning ability to gather words which not only rhyme, but are also unique and clever. Each word technique spits embodies anguish and sorrow as if the true life experience delivers into our ears word for word.
The true life aesop-esqe story is a true modern day piece of art.
The artistic story and message...
The story ends without a sequel
And now you know why Technique, don't fucking fall in love with people
Hold the person that you love closely if they're next to you
The one you love, not the person that'll simply have sex with you
Appreciate them to the fullest extent, and then beyond
'Cause you never really know what you got, until it's gone

Poetree
Hip-hop i consider a genre with subsets including rap, rnb, break dancing, and poetry. I did slam poetry once.
I like how slam poetry scratches the beat out, leaving listeners focused on the lyrics. Of course just like rap, I believe delivery is half the game. When you're feeling what you say, people are going to feel what you say. I wrote this some-odd weeks ago. Feedback would be nice.
Thanks g.
Can't help but day dreaming in math class
Seemingly, leaving me fiending for your laugh
The graph that measures x and y
Don't answer why I can't get x outta my mind
But I see these numbers stuck in my mind like words to a rhyme
Cause your the one(1) that helps me pass the time
But too(2) much time waves good bye
To(2) think through two(2) thoughts thoroughly
So to clear my thoughts completely
I look out to see the trees(t(h)ree)
That subtracts the ache(h) thats written on me with chalk
But i can't for(4)get all the little talks
And for(4) sure can't for(4)get how our lips walked the walk
While our five(5) fingers interlocked
Six(6) minutes left in class the thoughts of math blocked
Got lost in those moments, it derailed my train of thought
Wishin' for just one(1) more minute in heaven,(1+6=7)
No interuptions, door locked
I realize my day dream seems to fiend for a past scene
But it can't relate(8) to the future cause it's too late(8)
It aint my fate(8) im too(2) past that lucky(7) date(2+7=9)
1 minute left to choose my best guess
The question requires to make my mind less of a mess
Can't concentrate so I guess I'm getting one(1) zero(0) for my last test..
Musical treat for those who've read my poem =]

Happy Weekend
So its finally friday (chea!), school's finally over with and you can stay up all night for enjoyable reasons. We're basically at the step door of the weekend, knocking to enter the house party ( imagine Superbad).
I heard "Kiss Kiss" earlier and remember just how much that beat/lyrics to that song sucked (don't hate me). Yeah so i decided i should make a playlist that basically sums of the progress of someones friday/saturday night.
Heres a sample story line:
So you know you got somebody that you wanna see every day. You get kind of tingly inside and you can't help but think she's "So Fine"
(So Fine - Mario Winans) you can't help but stare. So you got that song stuck in your head, she's gone going and you got shit to do.
Later on that night your boys call you up telling you to get ready for the night. Shots are poured, beers are drunk, and the liquor is gone in a blur. Your minds spinning but the only thing straight is that girl. You at the party/club/dance, and you don't know her number, you just gotta find her
(Anonymous - Bobby Valentino).
You pushing people over, knocking over cups, splitting couples up, once your boy told you ya girl is here, to you it just seems like "Forever"
(Forever remix feat Mario Winans - T.I.).
You finally spot her she looks fresh to death, you whisper in her ear it's kinda loud in here would you care to blow it, she said yea.
(Sunshine - Lupe Fiasco)
...
"Wake up saturday morning its a beautiful day"
(Ride Through - Musiq Soulchild)
Hope you guys read that.
Have a great weekend foreaall

So Chi That You Thought I Was Bashful...

Thanks to all the people who continue to visit my site, keep downloading good music! better than turning on that radio..
I think 'ye was sued over "Good Life" or something, but when hasn't he used a sample? People just greedy as hell. Anyway I know everyone loves the RnB but I had to throw a this up like a bulimic ("Sierra Leone"). That was horrible foreal lol hopefully this makes up for it.
Top FIVE Kanye West Songs That You Probably Never Heard.
1. Bitter Sweet feat. John Mayer
2. Young Folks (freestyle over Peter Bjorn and John's original)
3. I Still Lover H.E.R. feat. Teriyaki Boyz
4. Improvise
5. (tie) Home feat. John Legend (OG version before "Homecoming")
5. (tie) Hey Mama (2008 Grammy Re-edit) (r.i.p. DW)
enjoy.
And He Gets The Girl
And He Gets The Girl - Lupe Fiasco
I guess i left this track out. i totally forgot about this lupe track over the "Maybe" beat from N.E.R.D. It's quite nerdy/dorky, but its basically rhetoric. A stereotypical "nerd" would probably not be able to describe a situation like how lupe did. But anyway, that's his job and our job is to listen to what he has to say.
After i made that last post, all i ran into was guys or girls who like someone it was weird. I was in the cooler and a commercial of The Office came up, plastered with Pam and Jim. I went back and was watching a Japanese T.V. show and the characters are some how intermingled in some love shape with 6 corners.
I guess there was a lot of people who enjoyed those tracks last time so I'll follow along those lines. These songs are basically songs about the girl/guy already with a bf/gf. pretty morally wrong but ehh makes for good music.
we all been there.
Already In Love (Acoustic) - Passion
Lie About Us feat. Nicole Sherzinger - Avant
She Don't Have To Know - John Legend (live at the knitting factory)
If I Was Your Man - Joe
I Wish - Carl Thomas
Be With Me - J. Holiday
3.25.2008
Tryna Find the Words..
I guarantee that everybody wants to try and find the words. If they aren't, they already have the girl. Every single person out there have felt this feeling before, something like a crush, and probably the vast majority are currently in this situation. It's either you always see the girl (guy) from afar, never having the chance to talk to her or you are only seen as a friend.
These songs are basically tracks that empathize with those situations. I doubt the people who sing these songs actually have the trouble of not attaining that girl (guy) they want, but its basically made for people to identify with.
I like how these songs are upbeat, even though the topic is somewhat sad or sympathetic.
Shows some kinda hope.
Hey Lover feat. LL Cool J- Boyz II Men
Thinkin About You - Avantt
She'll Never Know - Javier
Trying to Find the Words - Jagged Edge
P.S. Listen to the lyrics
P.S.S. post dedicated to my boys lol

Trey songz
I Gotta Make It is probably my favorite RnB cd ever. It's got that smooth styling of Aretha (literally) with rediculous vocal range giving Usher a run for his money. I think Trey Songz made it pretty big from that one song "I Just Gotta Make It", despite not being a club banger. In his new CD Trey Day, he ran from the Aretha Franklin endorsed sound and jumped on the club banger band wagon. Some cuts on his new CD are amazing like the one above and "Can't Help But Wait", but still no where near the level of his debut CD. Trey Songz should get more recognition for his voice, but unfortunately his CD sales don't reflect his talent. Trey is even able to outshine J. Holiday's own track "bed".
Hopefully his next CD he would realize his roots.
I'm Comming For You - Trey Songz
Bed Remix feat. Trey Songz - J.Holiday
3.23.2008
Be
We got arms but won't reach for the skies
Waiting for the Lord to rise
I look into my daughter's eyes
And realize that I'ma learn through her
It was a toss up between this track and "the light", but Be just encompasses and better portrays Common legendary-esqe status. It's absolutely sick how he shreds this J Dilla beat. The beat itself is such a great intro track; the beat progression, the down to earth, world catching up to life type beat.
The Jordan brand music video for this track perfectly depicts the feel of the song its incredible. It shows hope and happiness, no wonder Common loves Barak. It's funny how Common is looked up to as the "conscious rapper" along with Lupe, Talib, and Mos Def, but he deserves to be that poster child for Hip Hop. With tracks like these, I'm glad he finally got that number 1 debut with Finding Forever.
Retrospect For Life - Common feat. Lauryn Hill
I Am Music - Common feat. Jill Scott

Just Friends
You gotta love those tracks that make you just wanna go up to that girl you have a fat crush on, and just say whats up. Of course it comes out perfect in your mind, but once you have her in your site, you immediately just go blank and say some stupid thing that you never rehearsed. "Just Friends", "The light", "Can you let me know", and "Seven Days" are just those feel good tracks that make you wanna holla at that girl you wanna talk to. Everyone has one of those girls you always see around, you wish to accidentally meet up with her, or those girls you dress up for every day. Peep these tracks, its those tracks like "Just Friends" that make you wanna talk to that crush, anything just to make conversation.
Can You Let Me Know - Lupe Fiasco feat. Verbal and Sarah Green

Seven Days - Craig David

This song is straight up top RnB single of '08. It's sad how few RnB tracks are on the radio these days. Other than maybe Chris Brown's "with you", what other artists are on the radio without a heavy snyth and hard bass? RnB on the radio is quickly being replaced with club banging tracks by rnb artists. What's sad is that people think that T-pain, Akon, and these other artists are singing an RnB track. Even Usher with his new track "love in the club" is skippin out on his original RnB roots.
I peeped the making the band boy group Day26's new album. Them guys got great voices so i assumed there was going to be a lot of Boyz II Men influence and other classic slow jams, but I was wrong. It's weird that Diddy judged the guys on "end of the road" and "my cherie amor" but the album with 18 tracks had one slow jam, rest of them were club bangers. I'm not saying the album was a disappointment like Trey Day, but it wasn't what i expected.
I love these albums and artists who stick to classic RnB style but of course im not hating on the "buy you a drank"'s out there. I gotta admit, its hella catchy.
check these tracks.. shows his crazy vocal range.

CRS..
This hypnotic track, sampled from Thom Yorke, somehow managed to make # 43 on rolling stone's top 100 tracks of 07' with no video (unofficial up there) or even as a single. On paper, CRS is the perfect combination of pre-existing artists to become immensely successful. Starting off with the attractive appeal (every girl thinks pharell is hot) of Pharell, adding the lyricism of Lupe, and the electrifying, attention hogging abilty of Kanye could create a phenomenal group no person could resist. Radio would have CRS tracks on repeat, MTV would have an excuse to air music videos, and instrumentals would be laid behind every reality television show, and venues would be packed with tickets higher than Snoop on sunday. Eventually, "thugs" would trade in their young jeezy/rick ross image for rainbow colors and BAPE clothing.
The heavyweight artists are obviously in no rush to create this super group, as they are all still promoting their own CDs. It's obvious that even though 'ye, lupe, and pharell might not know if it'll get farther than us placers, Lupe told me at the meet n greet when he came to occidental college that they can only do their songs live (due to some label conflicts or whatever). Whatever the case may be, guarantee CRS tracks will leak, making them want to make the CD.
check this unofficial mashed up track. imagine the possibilities...
